Suffice it to say I am even less sanguine about Alice and Sam's future in The Magnus Protocol than I was before. (Sidebar: extremely tempted to try to repurpose X-Files footage to make a vid for it.)

It was pretty clear that Jon was going to damn the world twice rather than save it at the end of 199, and that was exactly what we got. I don't personally think this was the or a right choice, though it felt understandable. But in the end he was outplayed by Martin on at least two fronts, and by the Web on one of those too, and…well, there's three glitches on the cast list for TMP, and I'll give you one guess as to who two of them are. And obviously this explains the different details for the Institute in The Magnus Protocol (good job no one spoiling that for me! Including randos on social media during the Kickstarter campaign).

As somebody put it on tumblr, they went out in love and together, despite it all, and that has to mean something. I'm still not over the part where we the listeners have been directly implicated in the podcast narrative since 197, and even more so at the end of 200, when Basira basically wishes us all goodnight and good luck. I didn't ask for this, Jonny Sims! I didn't ask to be involved! But there is no such thing as neutral knowledge or observation, eh? Eh?
Anyway, I'm off to listen to more of The Mechanisms and finally dive into the tumblr tags without fear of spoilers. What a good podcast.
